Strawberry Shortcake

When I was in first and second grade, I was crazy about Strawberry Shortcake. I got two dolls for a birthday, and I still have my original Strawberry doll and metal lunch box.

For years, I wondered what happened to Strawberry's friend, Custard. Perhaps I lost her somewhere along the way. Then I looked up information online. My version of the doll never came with a Custard.

A few months ago, at my sister's house, a familiar little cat appeared in my niece's play house. This was the cat I substituted for Custard! They are reunited again.

While visiting some friends on New Year's Day, I mentioned that I'd bought a Strawberry Christmas ornament on clearance. My friend Amy went up to her bedroom and gave me this wonderful set of stained glass. They are seven characters and Strawberry's house. They now reside in my craft room window.

What's your favorite childhood toy? Do you still have it?

I loved my dolls. I still have all but one of my big dolls. I do not have any of the little dolls. They were red headed pony tailed dolls. I had a box full and do not know what happened to them. One on my dolls is 57 years old and one is 56 years old. One of these is a Grace Storey Putnam Bye-Lo Baby doll.he looked at and made her doll’s head using the shape and features of a three day old baby. If you have seen a three day old baby then you know that they do not have the most beautiful face in the world. But when children saw the dolls, they loved them. The dolls had soft “frog” shaped body, made for cuddling, bisque heads, sleep eyes and celluliod hands. Mine had a form of rubber or plastic head and hands. mu mother paid no more that $2.00 for either if these two dolls.

Aww. Still thrilled that a random conversation found them a happy home.

Ignoring my packrat tendencies and the boxes o' Barbies stashed in the basement, think I'm happiest that I still have Sue, my childhood Teddy bear since age 2 or so I've been told.

A Sadie while I work from home
