A while ago, I read a tutorial on using wool yarn to make dryer balls (instead of using dryer sheets or fabric softener). I'm all for eliminating chemicals from my life, and found some wool yarn at a thrift store.
I bought six skeins of yarn for $8.99. It made 10 yarn balls. They turned out nicely!

You are so lucky to find wool yarn at the thrift store. I made dryer balls recently and had to buy it. It was hard to find at the craft store, almost everything is acrylic now. I also read you could buy a used wool sweater and pull it apart for the wool, but I am not that ambitious- I bet you are though. I did give one of my balls to the kitties- sprayed with catnip spray.

Thanks so much for this! Dryer sheets are toxic for cats, and my human's boyfriend is still using them for his laundry - maybe this is a way to get him off them for good!
undoing a wool sweater isn't that hard..
and they do look like cat toys, I bet the cats would play with them

That's a great idea. I've never heard of using wool yarn balls in the dryer, but I've read of using a tennis ball to fluff up blankets and towels so it makes sense. May have to try it.
Did the cats help with the construction? :)
