I have a covered litter box in our office. I dislike this box, but it's Benny's preferred box. (Once I removed and replace with an uncovered box, and was "rewarded" with sprays on the wall. . )
I use puppy pads under and on the back of the box. I also use a large floor towel in front of the other box to catch litter and "butt overhang."
I read about this waterproof fabric on a cat forum. The poster gave me the link, and I ordered two yards of it from Amazon.
I had some cotton napkins I'd bought at Goodwill, and sewed the fabric to the back of some.
The "fabric" was a bit difficult to work with, and I honestly wasn't sure how it could hold up in the wash. But, it works wonderfully!
I could see using these in the carrier, in case of an accident, or under water bowls to catch spills.

Yep, we've got puppy pee pads taped or pinned up around each litter box, since Chucky just has to think outside of the box every once in awhile!
Great idea! We currently use puppy pads under our boxes (a long time ago we bought a box of one hundred) for butt overhang and a big litter tracker mat for two others. We keep meaning to buy a few of those tall plastic boxes to cut openings for entry/exit but until Mom remembers to add it to the list, we stuck cleaning and replacing pads. *sigh*
Dat's innerestin'. We so wish we lived closer or had shippin' money. We have lots of piddle pads we could share with ya'. Big hugs fur all.

My human is so NOT handy with this sort of thing. She has to just buy the disposable ones.
so the fabric you bought isn't absorbant at all? is that why you sewed it on to something else? You said it is hard to work with, what do you mean by that? is it stiff? or is it slippery? Have you washed it yet?
The fabric is slightly absorbant, but for stability and added absorption, I opted to sew it to a cotton fabric. It is sort of like Saran Wrap and slippery. It wanted to shift as I sewed it. I honestly thought it would rip when I washed it, but I've washed some piece several times and they have been holding up great.
You are ambitious. I am too lazy to do that, but it is a great idea.
Meant to write this the other day: Intrigued by this idea, and if it might wash up better over time than the store bought versions I have. Though, I do also have the mega Costco box of puppy pads at the moment.
