Lucy's Outdoor Adventure

or. . The Morning Lucy Nearly Gave Mom a Heart Problem.

Lucy: Mom went out to feed that other cat, Blackie. I wanted to see what was going on, so I zoomed out the door.

Wow, I'm outside again! It's been a while. I'm going to run down the driveway! Wheeeeee!

Now I'll run around the house, just for fun. Hope Mom can keep up with me!

Black: What is happening? Mom is running around and yelling at that other cat. I don't like it, and where's my food?

I ran around the house twice, but now I forgot where I am. My tail puffed out and I forget where I'm going. Help! Help!

I am on the neighbor's balcony. Mom is coming toward me. . but I'm scared. . .

Run! I jumped off the railing and into the garden. Look at the impression I made.

I'm running through the neighbor's backyard, fast, and I can't see Mom anymore. Help! I'm lost!

I hear Mom calling and I remember a familiar tree, so I start climbing it. I call out to Mom.

Mom sees me! She calls my name and I meow back. She goes to get a ladder. See how high up I am?

Mom climbs up and waits until I come a bit closer. Then she suddenly and firmly grabs me!

She carries me back inside, holding me so tightly I can barely breathe. I'm back inside again, safe!

****

This happened yesterday morning, and I thank our friend Connie for the idea to re-create it in miniature. Lucy is back inside, safe and sound. I had to scruff her to get her out of the tree, which I don't like to do to cats, but in this case it was necessary.

Let's hope the rest of the week is more quiet!

That is freakin awesome.. and I am so glad you caught her so quickly! it can be so frightening when they get out. Twee escaped once and we only realized it when we saw her on the back porch outside. She was asking to come back in, so I opened the door and cooed at her and in she walked like nothing was wrong. it was only after I shut the door I nearly flipped out.

Love the recreation; I've done the same thing when confronted with a skunk last year...definitely did NOT want to do it for real!

That being said, thankfully Lucy's romp ended well, even if you were probably scared for a while.

Great picture story! Maybe she won't be so quick to run out the door next time, I hope. That is a real panic situation!

Wow, THAT was a scary couple of moments! I'm glad it wasn't TOO much trouble to catch Lucy... and I hope the outdoors doesn't tempt her like that again.

Poor Lucy ... she must've been so frightened. I love your recreation! And I'm so glad she's back safe and sound (I'd say she learned her lesson ... but my escape artists never do!).

Phew, we're sure glad you found your mom bean Lucy and didn't get lost outside. We suggest indoors is the place a kitty wants to be.

Great re-creation of the event!
