Please welcome Ringo!

We have some happy news! A new kitty has joined our family. He's about 11 weeks old, adopted from a local shelter. We've named him Ringo.*

Deciding whether to get another cat now was difficult.  I missed having three cats and wanted to fill that "hole" with someone new to love. In two days, we spent a number of hours at the shelter, looking at four cats in total. When Ringo came into the room, I saw Jim's eyes light up--he was "the one."

So far, he's a happy kitten, energetic, playful, purring all of the time, and he loves people. Of course, he's in a separate room for now. Benny doesn't seem to care much about what's going on upstairs, but Sadie is a bit spooked and hissy. We'll take it slow and let Sadie and Benny tell us if they're ready for the next step. I know Ringo is ready to bust out and be part of the family.

I told Jim that if Tucker could hiss now, he certainly would! He didn't like kittens and only tolerated Sadie. He'll always be in our hearts, but we have lots of love for a new kitty too.

*I have long joked about naming a cat Ringo, to continue our Beatles-themed cat names. However, his all-black tail has a single ring of white fur around it, so the name fits him.

  1. I think 3 cats is a good number of indoor cats to own. I wish Ringo Welcome, and a long and happy life. Benny and Sadie will get used to him soon, I a certain. Have a good weekend.

  2. Methinks you need to work harder to provide photographic evidence of this tail ring. :-)

  7. I am so glad you are filling your heart with another sweet kitty! No one can replace Tucker, and we know that is not what you are doing.
I couldn't stand the loneliness after brandi passed, either. I had more love to share, so Quinn has taken her own place in my heart.
We can't wait to see your new young addition grow into his forever home! Quinn says "hi, Ringo!"

  8. Welcome Ringo!

You had enough love in your heart for more kitties when Tucker was with us, nothing changes that fact now that he is not, except maybe it just makes it a little easier on you to bring a new one into the house :)

    Congratulations.

  10. "He'll always be in our hearts, but we have lots of love for a new kitty too." That's such a wonderful thought--it's what I have always believed but never could say so purrfectly!

Ringo is a doll ;-) Congrats on the new addition to your family!

  11. Welcome, Ringo. You're right. As hard as it is to lose one furry, we always have room in our hearts to make room for another.

  12. What a cutie! Welcome, Ringo. It makes us happy to see that another little one has found a wonderful forever home. Of course no cat ever will replace Tucker and we know Ringo isn't expected to. Love is an infinite power, and while Tucker might hiss at Ringo, were he still alive, we also think he'd give you a "paws up" for saving another life.

    Lots of hugs and purrs!
