Benny's belly

Some of you might remember that Benny is on busbar for anxiety. He's on a low dose, but it's helped him tremendously. Without it, he would pull his fur out on his sides and create bald spots.

For about three weeks, he's started to not only pull fur out on his belly, but groom until he has "hot spots." There are two spots, which I've kept an eye on. For three days last week, I was out of town on business. I never imagined that he might get more anxious--but he did, and he pulled out even more fur on his lower belly. He let me take a photo of his belly on Sunday night.

I am taking him in to the vet tonight. I also ordered a Spirit Essence on the advice of our friend Connie. He's such a loving guy, and it tears me up that he's hurting himself like this.

Poor Benny. Lots of purrs from us.

Not sure if you want to try the Zylkene Derry gets from time to time...it's more for short-term use (say, up to a month at a time).

Good luck, paws crossed.

It can be very stressful on kitties when their loved ones go away even if they don't seem to show it on the outside. Cats are all about routine.

That picture still makes me smile (even if it is cringe worthy which it so totally is)

Sending calming happy energy to Benny

Benny will get better now that his Mommy is back home and giving him lots of love and attention. Poor baby didn't know where Mommy was and missed her a lot.

Aw, poor Benny. We're glad the buspar helps him. We've taken buspar but it didn't do anything for us. We do use the Spirit Essences. The trick with those is to use them consistently and regularly.

Hmmm. Cat who went before (Suki) was upset when kitten Sasha camed. She was on anxiety medication cause she licked the fur off her whole tummy. Sasha and I were perfectly compatible. One in one room, one in the other. We each gotted mom time. And we did do chase the treats together.
Happy endings.

Ooh, poor Benny - I'm afraid my Aerin will do the same when I'm taking a few long weekends later this year.

My ongoing treat of choice is a fish oil supplement that is supposed to be good for the skin/fur. Allerg-3 is the one I get at my local vets. Not sure if it helps - but the cats demand it as part of the morning routine by now.

Poor kitty! One of ours has sensitive skin, and skin allergies, he scratches himself bloody at times all around his neck mostly. What did the vet say?
