Update on Benny's belly

I have mixed news on Benny's belly. To refresh your memory, this is the photo I posted on August 19, the day before I took him to the vet.

Here's what it looked like last night.

He had pulled out/licked off more fur around the area, but the ouchie spot looks a little better and less raw.

In addition to increasing his anxiety medication, I've been giving him the Obsession blend of a Spirit Essence, and a calming treat each day. I think we may be turning a corner (oh no, did I just jinx myself by typing that). When my parents arrived on Friday, they had an unplanned guest with them:
Hi, I'm Baby the shih tzu.
Baby had sneaked into their minivan and stowed away--my parents didn't even have a leash or food with them. Fortunately, she is good with cats and ignores them. To my surprise, Benny hung around most of the weekend, even going up to her and spitting. I was worried he would make his belly worse from the stress, but it seemed to have distracted him enough to stop his overgrooming. Maybe, just maybe, it was enough to stop the cycle.

All I can do is keep doing what we've been doing.

stow-a-way.. lol. Too funny.

Sorry about that Benny. But it was nice that you were able to handle it so well. I hope you heal up completely right quick.

Baby was just your size, Benny! Easy to handle (especially when the woofie actually likes cats). We are so glad you are mellowing out. Now please get that owie healed! So far, so good.

We can't help but giggle a little over Baby the stow-away!

Feel better, Benny!

Is Benny telling you he wants a little doggie to help distract him? I'm glad Baby was able to distract Benny for a bit and she was good with kitties. Hope it broke the cycle.

Poor little Benny. I hope the spirit essences work. I'd be curious to hear a review of them--my girls could use some calming too.

How funny that your parents had a stowaway!
