Chewy.com review: Calming treats

This month's product is Pet Products of Vermont Calming Chews.

When the email from Chewy arrived, we had checkups scheduled for Benny and Sadie, so we thought it would be an interesting experiment to try them before the appointment.

The good: Not a drug (a more natural approach), made in the USA, like the idea of giving a treat instead of a pill, an inexpensive item compared to other methods

The not-so-good: Not all cats will eat them. (I gave Ringo one as a test and he would not eat it.)

I did a test a few days before the appointment, to make sure Benny and Sadie would eat the treats. Both cats ate them eagerly. Were they calm? I could not tell--both napped most of the evening, but that wasn't unusual.

I left work early to go home and grab the cats for their appointment. (Benny is always suspicious when this happens.)

I gave both cats two treats about a half hour before the appointment. Both cats acted the same in the car. When I got into the exam room and took the cats out to be weighed, Sadie was noticeably more relaxed than usual. She sat quietly on the exam table!

I feel the treats helped her.

I did not notice any change in Benny. He was exactly the same at the vets.

These treats are safe and inexpensive to try. I was pleased that they helped Sadie. They may not help every cat, but since they are inexpensive,  they are worth a try.

My human has tried calming treats on me for car trips, since I tend to complain, but they don't seem to help much. I think SHE should take them - maybe it would help her driving!

I am glad they worked for Sadie. I tried these on my cats and they loved them, but my cats are so lazy that I couldn't tell if they were calmer :)

We've tried those treats but didn't think they made much of a difference. And like Ringo, Wally wouldn't eat them.
