Saying goodbye to the farm house

My grandparents bought a farm in 1950. Above is a scan of the original deed. Items included "chickens, about 65," "11 cows and 11 heifers," and "one tractor." Click on the scan for a larger version.

Here is the farmhouse today, sad looking compared to what it was years ago. To the left is a giant lilac bush, to the right bridal veil, and a giant old (now dead) tree.

I had to take a photo of the wall paper leading to the upstairs. It's so old and kitschy it's nearly back in style again.

Here is the brass bed where I spent hundreds of nights as a kid. The house has many memories for me and I will miss visiting it.

I know your feelings of loss. When my parents built a anew house on the farm and sold the house in town they were worried that i would be upset. It was the only house I remembered living in as a child. I reassured Mom that home was where they were. Yes, I miss the old house but would not tell her that!

So sweet to be able to document some of your memories like this, though. And cool to run across the original deed.
