I feel terrible about this

I feel just awful about this. I was trimming the cats' nails this morning. Benny was the last of the bunch to get trimmed. He's such a good boy about it, usually purring away while I do it. While clipping one of his toes, he jerked and I clipped it a little too close. I almost cut to the quick.

I could see a little red spot where the quick starts, but no bleeding (I checked it three more times).

As is his personality, he just whined a little when it happened. No struggle, hissing, growling, nothing.

I've been trimming pets' nails since I was a teenager, and have never done this before. I may need to go out and get Benny a special treat. I'm sorry, little boy.

And you should get yourself a treat too to make you feel betters. We know you moms don't do this on purpose.

Awwww! It happens, so try not to feel bad about it. Momma has made Dixie Dog's nail bleed before. Her nails are solid black and you cannot see the quick.

We're sure Benny knew you didn't do it on purpose....accidents do happen, even to us kitties.

We want to thank y'all for your support regarding our G-Ma. We hope everything will be ok with her now for a good while. xxxxxxx

We know how you feel for getting too close. He was great boy to not tell you about it. We think he needs lots of treats!

Oh we all know you didn't do it on purpose. Sometimes it is just so tough if they move unexpectedly. Moms usually take this stuff a lot harder then us kitties do (though we do know how to milk it for treats that is for sure). We are sure he isn't mad, but any time extra treats are offered we say take them, and if it makes you feel better we see nothing wrong with it!
