Adventures in plumbing

We live in a 100-year-old bungalow, and it seems something always needs to be repaired. I'd scheduled a plumber to come in last Friday for two "simple" repairs, replace the stopper in a bathtub and repair the leaking kitchen faucet.

Jim and I each use a different bathroom, and his tub has always drained slowly. The plumber suggested snaking out the pipes. After he did, he started work on the kitchen sink and Jim used the shower.

Imagine my surprise when water started coming through the ceiling! The old pipes had (or was) cracked and it leaked. We had to replace the entire trap.

The cats each had a different reaction to the plumber. Sadie disappeared. Tucker sat in the dining room, observing from a distance. He sat next to his yarn ball the entire time.

Is he gone yet?

Benny was curious about the plumber and hung around. A few times, he dashed up the stairs next to him. A couple of times, he got scared and had a tail puff (see photo below).

Needless to say, Jim and I are glad this adventure is over.

Plumbing problems are no fun! A few weeks ago we had some issues and Minchie was a big help to our plumber.

Apparently you and Jim aren't the only ones! :)

I so love poofy tails, despite the fact that I know that means someone is upset

Raining inside is definitely NOT good. Mommy said it happened in her family growing up. And the leak was in a newly installed shower that her daddy did NOT do but wished he had!

We were invaded by a plumber a few weeks ago - we didn't offer to help him though and went out to guard the garage instead.

Sounds like *way* too much fun for a single day. Glad Tucker had his yarn ball to protect him.

Water that is not in the pipes where it should be is never a good thing. Glad that introoder plumber has gone.

Yikes! Did this entail drywall repair too? Glad it's done--Nicki always likes to be front and centre when a workman/person (it's always been a man...) comes into the house, but of course Derry hides UTB!

Love how Tucker was peering cautiously out from the table with his favorite yarn ball close by for comfort and Benny with his puffy tail. Too cute.

We don't like when worker guys come in to our house either! We usually run and hide under the bed. We're glad your plumbing problems have been fixed and things can get back to normal.
