We are reviewing two products from Chewy this month.
The first is Fancy Feast variety pack of Poultry & Beef flavors.
Ringo and Lucy were excited to see the box.
Hey, what is this? MOM, we don't eat Easter candy! |
Lucy: Maybe there's something else that's better inside! |
Score: Look what I found! |
Ringo: Let ME see! Hey, mom, thanks for the bunny and (paper) Easter grass. |
Note that there are THREE cats in this photo, waiting for the grub.
Hey, hurry up and open these cans! |
This pack has 24 cans. You get 8 of chicken, 8 of beef, and 8 turkey and giblets. All of the Fancy Feast Classics line are pate.
We've fed Fancy Feast for a number of years. The Classics line is low carb and generally a decent canned food. A note that the chicken and beef versions do have fish listed as an ingredient, though the turkey and giblets do not.
The ingredient list is decent--unlike some foods, there is not a long list of oddball things like cranberry, pumpkin, etc. that some foods seem to add these days. A plus is that this food is easily purchased a a wide variety of places, from pet stores to grocery stores.
We had not fed the beef flavor before, so that was the one I served up first.
All of the cats liked and ate it, even our picky Benny!
Chewy has a sale on the multi packs right now, making this food a good value, especially for multi-cat households.
The only "con" I can find about this product is the smell of the packaging (odd, right?). When I opened the box, it smelled almost rancid and I thought that a can had opened and spoiled. I could not find anything opened or mis-packaged, so I'm guessing it was the type of cardboard they used for the box? A minor point, I know.*
*We were given some food in exchange for a honest review. All opinions here are our own.
*UPDATE: It turns out, I was not imagining the stinky smell. I had put the box in the basement and something was stinking badly. After digging around, I discovered that the bottom cans in the box were damaged and had opened. I have emailed Chewy about this, and they've already responded. It affected just 4 cans, but perhaps they can change their packaging so it doesn't get smushed as easily. Chewy is going to forward my feedback to the packaging team. Thanks for the speedy response!

Right now, if Chucky will eat it, it's good! We are buying Trader Joe's canned food ($.79 a can 5.5 oz), and will branch out if he tires of that. Keeping meat on his bones is our #1 priority. Thanks for the reviews, kitties!
We go hot and cold on the Fancy Feasts. It drives me crazy this fussiness!
Love the bunny and the basket!
Yippee for good foods, and for Chewy responding so quickly! Good review!
Glad your kitties like it, mine do too. We were lucky that our cans were not damaged.
We love Fancy Feast, but we don't get it very often now that we're dealing with Wally's kidney issues.
Fancy Feast is pretty tasty stuff!
