Chewy.com review: Wellness Core Simply Shreds #chewyinfluencer

This month's second review item is Wellness Core Simply Shreds food. We received chicken and mackerel, but there are other versions.

This food comes in a small pouch and contains four ingredients: Chicken, chicken broth, water for processing, mackerel. It is made in the USA, contains no grains, byproducts, fillers, etc.

The food texture is shredded with added liquid. It looks primarily like shreds of chicken.

Please be careful when opening the pouch! The first time I opened a pouch, the liquid flew out and onto my shirt! (I have issues opening pouches, so maybe it's me?) It works much better if you use a scissors and cut the top of the pouch, then pour into a bowl.

NOTE: This food is meant to be fed as a "side" (according to the package) and is not a nutritionally complete and balanced diet. You could also use it as a food topper, or for cats who aren't eating as much or need to gain weight.

We had mixed reviews of this food. Sadie LOVED it and licked the bowl clean.

Lucy ate most of it, but left shreds in the bowl.

Ringo picked at it but wasn't very interested.

Benny hardly gave it a sniff before walking away.

I wish a product like this had been around when our Tucker was alive. If you have an elderly or thin animal, getting them to eat is vital, and something like this would be helpful. (And much healthier than feeding tuna or other people-food items.) It's something to have in the cabinet for those "just in case" moments. While not all of our cats liked this, it is nice that these type of products are available to cat owners.

UPDATE: With Sadie's dental being more invasive than we expected, this food came in handy. I gave her a package last night and she ate it up. Win!

Disclaimer: We were given some food in exchange for an honest review. The opinions here are our own.

Just read your update on Sadie; poor sweetie! But once she's healed up, she'll feel great!

Poor Sadie, does she need a visit from the Tooth Fairy? We had this food too and it is impossible to open without spilling it all over. I had hoped Phoebe would like it to get extra calories, but she didn't like it.

nice ingredient list. Sorry about your shirt, but so glad Sadie likes it.

I'm innocent, I swear!

Lucy was in a playful mood last week, zooming around and messing up the hallway rug. However, when I'd come to take a photo, she'd ...
