Sadie continues to improve. She's been off Prozac for about 5 weeks, and while I've noticed a small amount of overgrooming, I'm monitoring it for now. She has resumed all of her old activities, many of which I'd forgotten about. She purrs more often, is not hiding, and roams the house again.
I did some searching on Prozac side effects in cats, and learned that deceased appetite is common. Sadie had lost 1.5 pounds in the past year, and while some of that could be from her sore mouth/teeth, most of it is likely from the Prozac. Her appetite has returned and she's patrolling the kitchen again for scraps. We did not know about this side effect, and our vet never mention it, so we're sharing this information with our cat friends.
We'll continue to keep a close eye on Sadie and her behavior. So far, things are looking up! We've missed our baby girl!

I am glad Sadie is doing well. I did not know Prozac caused decreased appetite- I could use some for me :)
Wow, her progress is great! And interesting about the Prozac side effects.
We had Chuck on Prozac once; now he's on Zoloft. Thanks for the info on appetite, and we all wish Sadie the very bestest!
I'm happy that she feels better now!
I thought about asking for prozac for one of my cats, but after reading the side effects, I relented. I will deal with the behavior.
I'm really glad to hear that Sadie is doing so much better!
We're glad that Sadie is doing so much better. Zoey has been on prozac for years...not familiar with that side effect.
it has been a week, is she still doing well?
