I feel it's the same with my cats. When they were cat babies they were spending 90% of their spare time with me (like kids), when they were growing up they became regular teenagers (rebellious and independent), and now when they're adults they like to share some moments with me! The oldest one I have (more than 15 years old) is with me all the time. He's elderly cat who likes to spend his time calm. Of course sometimes (usually in the evenings) he loves to run over the flat like a elephant herd haha! But he's more sociable and inquisitive than younger cats :)
