Book signing: Bailey No Ordinary Cat

Last summer, a video of a girl singing You Are My Sunshine to her orange cat named Bailey went viral.

I started following Bailey on Facebook. Long story short, a few weeks ago a book was released with photos of Bailey. (Sad to say, Bailey died around Christmas time from kidney failure. He was 14.)

I learned there would be a book signing at a book store in Milwaukee, and knew I had to go. I asked my friend Susan to join me, and we got there early.

I was worried there would be a huge crowd, but I was delighted that I got front-row seats!

Because I had close seats, I only took one photo during Erin Merryn, the author's, talk. I didn't want to appear rude. She spoke for an hour about Bailey and his story!

After the talk, she and her adorable daughter Abby (4) signed books. Erin had a paw print made of Bailey's paw to "sign" the books. I was second in line!

Susan took some photos for me.

The line wound around the store.

Erin is also advocating to pass Erin's Law. This state law would require that schools teach children about sexual awareness and what constitutes sexual abuse. If the child reports an incident, they will be taken seriously. It has passed in 36 states (sadly, not Wisconsin).

It was a good and interesting time! I'm glad I went and now I have this adorable photo book.

*I purchased two books with my own money and received no compensation for this post.
