Thrifty Thursday: Vintage Chessie button

Today isn't really a thrifty find, but a gift passed along to me. In September, a retired coworker died. He had been my "next-door neighbor" in the office for a couple of years, and was a really nice guy. We continued to meet for lunches after he retired, until COVID stopped that.

I went into the office and saw an envelope on my desk. This Chessie pin was inside, along with note that it was found in my friend's house.

You might remember that I adore the Chessie logo, and even bought a set of vintage playing cards last summer.

I will treasure this gift.

Oh! Bittersweet.
I adore this logo, and was going to order a fleece top with it embroidered.

What a thoughtful gift from your good friend - even though he has gone "OTRB".

What a nice gift! The mom has a hankie (remember those?) that has the Chessie cat on it. She’s been meaning to have it framed because she thinks it would make for great artwork.

This gift was thoughtful in ways that go beyond. What a special pin to have.

It's so cute! Two great aunts, living in the Windy City, never to marry: spent their lives working for the C & O. When they would often visit us as young ones, they would bring little "treats" such as this and the sleepy kit was always a favorite! From then, through my college days, riding trains was the preferred mode of travel ($$$ less than flying). Great fun, great memories!
