Kliban cat bedsheet "upcycled"

Have you heard the new term "upcycled?" It means to take something and make something else out of it. I recently found a Kliban cat flat bedsheet at the Salvation Army. Does anyone remember the artist Kliban? He drew all sorts of funny fat tabby cartoons.

First, I made a skirt from part of the sheet (but I haven't taken a photo of that yet).
Today, I made these shopping bags! Aren't they cute?

Closeup of the fabric. These bring me back to my childhood. My grandma had a set of these same sheets when I was a kid, and I liked them so much back then. Now I can enjoy them anytime I shop!

Yes, upcycling is in right now! I LOVE those bags! What a great idea. I don't sew for beans, but my mom loves to and is always looking for projects. :-)

I love these! I just purchased some of the same fabric on ebay. Kliban cat stuff has gotten crazy expensive recently. I am planning on making a skirt as well. I have a Kliban blanket that my grandmother made for me back in the 80s and I still cherish it.
