I try to keep this blog focused mainly on the cats. . .but once in a while, I'll share something about one of the humans. Last October, I had an annual checkup and did not like the number I saw on the scale. I was already exercising but still slowly gaining weight every year. I talked with both of my sisters (one a registered dietician, the other a nurse and certified exercise instructor) and changed my diet.
Slowly, I lost 17 pounds. I didn't realize how different I looked until a co-worker took a fun photo of me recently, and I compared it to one from August 2012. Take a look:
Left is before; right is now. |
I've been maintaining since February 28, and feel great. I am not on a "diet," but a healthy way of eating, which seems normal now. I eat fewer simple carbohydrates, more fruit and vegetables, and more protein. I also eat smaller meals every three hours. SparkPeople has also been inspirational.
And bonus, my recent cholesterol bloodwork was much improved! Thanks to both of my sisters for the encouragement and help!

That's fantastic, Rene, congratulations! I could stand to lose 30 or 40 pounds but don't seem to have the motivation anymore.
So well done!
Huzzah! And to quote a common phrase from my WW meetings - it's a live it, not a diet. :-)
Good job Rene! Keep it up.
Good for you! It takes willpower to change your eating habits and keep to it! :)
*wolf whistle* Congratulations on maintaining..
Looking good, Rene. Keep up the great work.
Congrats! It's not easy changing one's diet...I know I'm struggling with it myself. You look wonderful!
Good for you! I lost ten pounds last summer and it's still off, it does make a difference. You look great, and more importantly, you've done your heart so much good!
Congratulations! That's a great accomplishment!
