On Friday, I took a vacation day. It was a busy one. Bright and early, we had a plumber come for two jobs. We got a new trap for the downstairs tub, and a new outdoor faucet!
Here is a before and after of the faucet. Woot, woot, no more leaking!
Then the boys both went for check ups!
A stack o' boys.
I had to dis-assemble Tucker's carrier so I could get him out for weighing. They did a sweet but sad thing by trying to both hide under the top together.
Benny is panting and Tucker is hissing.
Oh yeah, I'm getting the stink eye.
Tucker checked out fine. I mentioned his significant hearing loss, but said he's now learned the hand gesture for "come." His blood work came back normal and the vet didn't see anything unusual.*
There are a few possible concerns for Benny. He lost a little more than a pound this year, and the doc noted a heart murmur and a slightly elevated heart rate. We did a full blood panel on him too, in case he had thyroid issues but everything came back normal. I'm going to bring him back in 4-6 months to recheck his heart. If things have worsened we may need to re-evaluate the next step. I plan to now bring him in every 6 months for check ups, like I do with Tucker.
Overall, the boys did very well during their exam, especially Benny, who had to get blood drawn a second time when the vet accidentally dropped one of the vials on the floor and it spilled.
* You might remember that a while ago, we found a possible cancer on his lung. I was monitoring it with regular x-rays, but since he went missing and returned, this no longer seems important. It's most important to us that he is content, pain free, and living a good life for as long as we're blessed to have him.

It's heart-breaking to see them so scared, but we're glad their check-ups were (mostly) good. Purrs to them both!
And you need another vacation day, a real one. LOL.
That picture is sad, sweet, and made me chuckle at the same time. I'm glad the visit went well, and yay for new plumbing stuff!
Sweet faucet update!
And um, glad, you all survived the cat drama.
That was a lot of drama but glad they are both doing well
Awwww Benny and Tucker!! You both did wonderfully and were very brave. We're glad to read all is as well as can be for both boys - extra special hugs for you two! Take care

those are two very unhappy kitties! :)
I made that decision with Em too, at some point you have to decide that medical intervention is going to do more harm to their lives than good, and just focus on what good you have for as long as you have it.
Oh Tucker, that isn't any fun to not be able to hear. And Benny we sure hope your heart stays all right. We have several cats here that have heart murmurs but it doesn't seem to bother them. But I sure would keep watching it. Hope you have a good rest of the day.
Well, that did not sound like much of a vacation day for Tucker and Benny! Paws crossed that they hold steady next visit!
My two coons went together to the vet last week. It is a scary place. Nothing good ever seems to happen there! At least they could look at each other. I am sure your cats were very happy when they got home, and were let out of their carriers. Mine are.
Oh we know so well about those vet visits! We're glad the boys checked out okay.
