On Sunday afternoon (it's always on a Sunday, right?), Ringo started pacing to the litter box. He'd dig a hole, squat, and nothing came out. After a few times of this, I scooped the box, and found no clumps.
While our regular vet is closed on Sundays, another vet nearby has "urgent care" hours. I had taken Tucker there once before on a Saturday. They got Ringo in quickly.
Thankfully, he is not blocked, but his bladder was pretty empty so they could not get a urine sample. I opted for some sub-cutaneous fluids and several days' worth of pain medication. Since he had a bit of a problem with his anal glands, I had them express those. While they were about 1/2 full, they weren't the cause of his problem.
I got the cold shoulder the rest of the day, but it was worth it. It can be a dangerous thing if kitties get blocked.
We'll keep a close eye on him this week.

better safe than sorry...we hope Ringo is feeling better soon
Oh noes! We hope Ringo feels better and soon. We agree with RF, always better safe than sorry!
Same thing happened to Angel on Friday; they tried to test her urine, but bladder was empty. Here's hoping Ringo gets better quickly!
purrs that this is the end of it.
Oh Kittens, we're sendin' lots of purrayers. We're so happy there wasn't a blockage.
Luv ya'

I hope Ringo is better after that! It's scary when a kitty (especially a boy kitty) has a litter box issue like that.
We hope Ringo is okay. It was good that you took him in.
We're sending our purrs that Ringo is feeling better soon. Poor little guy!

Feel better soon, Ringo.
Hoping he is ok, and YEP you are exactly right, it's always either Friday night or Sunday. My Vet always says that Cody has a sixth sense and waits til he is on vacation to get sick. catchatwithcarenandcody
I am glad he is OK, better safe than sorry.
