Both Jim and I are on vacation this week. We scheduled this long ago, but it is perfect timing and a big help with the cats.
Lucy is doing well. She loves being in the house, and is exploring everything. She loves to play, and follows me from room to room in the house. She's eating well, gaining weight, and chasing the other cats less. Her one ear still has something going on, as she's been scratching it, so I'm continuing the drops in that ear for a while.
My new crafting assistant:
Ringo is getting more curious about Lucy. He'll still hiss at her sometimes, but can be in the same room with her when we play.
Benny dislikes Lucy and hisses her away. Thankfully, she knows to just walk away.
Sadie has been the most upset with the changes in the household. She's been hiding, mostly in the basement. We've moved her into our bedroom for the long term. She often sleeps under the bed, and this way, we'll know she is safe and undisturbed. I bought a new cat tree and put it near by window, and put her favorite bed in there, along with a litter box.
We'll let the boys in during the night if they are interested, but the room is off-limits to Lucy.
We hope, in time, she'll want to join the rest of the house, but for now, we understand that she needs her space. We learned long ago that she's a stubborn girl and needs to decide things on her own terms.

As alpha female, we think she feels threatened. Hopefully that will settle soon.
it sounds like you have a good plan in place for Sadie and we hope she comes around soon.
Poor Sadie.. I hope that limiting her space helps her feel more secure. Purrs she is feeling better soon
Your new crafting assistant looks lovely in the window.
Purrs that Ms Sadie likes her new kingdom and settles in.
Sadie, being a calico, is a lot more willful than the average kitty! My human knows this from experience. I'm sure she'll adjust, but it will just take longer.
I suspect adding an adult cat to the household would never be easy. It seems that things are progressing well though.
Slow and steady! You definitely have an adorable assistant.
We're glad you have come up with a solution that seems to be working. We hope Sadie comes around at least enough where she learns to just ignore Lucy. We know what it's like...we have Zoey and she has chosen to stay clear of the others.
That was sweet of you to give Sadie a safe zone so she will feel safe.
you have a great understanding of your cats which is a beautiful thing. Love that Lucy is doing so well! catchatwithcarenandcody
