Chewy.com review: Stella & Chewy's freeze-dried food #chewyinfluencer

This month's second item is Stella & Chewy's freeze-dried chicken food.

We have fed the raw version many times, and it was always liked, but we hadn't tried the freeze-dried version before.

The bag had a nifty way to open it. Easy and efficient.

A note: Freeze-dried food is not meant to be fed straight out of the bag. You need to add water and wait for it to rehydrate. This is what the nuggets look like straight out of the bag.

The bag suggests 1/2 c. of water for each cup of food. I don't usually measure out the water. The instructions suggest letting them sit just one minute. However, I've gotten better results if I let them sit overnight in the fridge. These are the nuggets after sitting for a few minutes.

Sadie was our tester this time.
For me?
She went NUTS for this food! She even growled and tried to carry the pieces away! She liked it more than their raw version for some reason.

If you've been wanting to try raw food but are hesitant, start with freeze-dried instead. The only "negative" is that you'll need at least a few minutes (to overnight) prep time before feeding. This isn't a problem for us, as we prepare bowls ahead of time.

Disclaimer: We received a bag of food in exchange for an honest review. The reviews here are our own.

I'm rather shocked that you never tried the freeze dried before. Elliot was a big fan, before I had to switch him to the prescription food for bladder issues.

Congrats, hunter Sadie!

Binga gets these dry, actually - she thinks they are treats! We just make sure she has lots of water nearby.

This is Ernie's favorite food right now. I crumble the pieces up first and then add a little water to the crumbles. Ernie likes to eat it with some dry, some hydrated with water.

overnight you say, interesting. My cats prefer them dry as opposed to rehydrated, but if I ever get another bag I'll have to try the overnight thing

I'm innocent, I swear!

Lucy was in a playful mood last week, zooming around and messing up the hallway rug. However, when I'd come to take a photo, she'd ...
